Therapists have had to quickly transition to a teletherapy model in 2020 as the global pandemic continues. Telepsychiatry, teletherapy, and Telemental Health are all modalities to extend our reach as mental health practitioners and are well received by clients. Seasoned therapists with decades of experience and new therapists just getting started are in new territory as they transition to what may feel like a more impersonal modality of care. Maintaining engagement with a client can be a challenge in the room, but when a therapist has to compete with all the distractions present in the client's own home, it can be even more challenging.
