An augmented reality (AR) environment allows users to interact with 2D and 3D data. Annotation is a technique that helps users externalize their thoughts and makes data visualization and analysis much easier. One use case for annotations is immersive analytics (IA), which uses immersive technologies for data analysis. Using annotations in 3D spaces is a major challenge and requires more research. Meanwhile, we are interested in designing a collaborative environment for the users. Current AR systems mainly focus on synchronized collaboration, while asynchronous collaboration has remained unexplored. This project explores the types and applications of annotation in immersive analytics for asynchronous, collaborative, remote augmented reality.
