I bit the bullet and bought the Arlo Pro 2. I got the 2 camera kit that comes with a base station. I paid $455 dollars for it, which works out to $227.50 dollars per camera. This isn't cheap and I have high expectations for these cameras and expect them to deliver.

Let's go to the features:
Firstly, this camera requires a base station located in your home near your router and it must be connected to your router with the included Ethernet cable.

For the cameras they are 1080p HD
It has a field of view of 130 degrees
Night vision with 850 NM LEDS that can reach up to 25 feet
It has an 8x digital zoom
2-way audio
Only 2.4 GHz WiFi can be connected and the base station for the cameras must be within a 90 meter field of view.
The motion detection, when on battery power, uses PIR motion technology, but when plugged in it uses video based doftware and has a 3 second preview meaning it will record 3 seconds before detecting motion
As for alerts, you can receive push notifications on your phone and/or email.
The cameras are weatherproof with an IP65 rating and have an operating temperature range of -4 degrees to 113 degrees Fahrenheit
It also works with Amazon Alexa, Smart Things and IFTTT.

As for recordings, it records to the cloud by default and has a free basic plan that stores your motion detection footage for 7 days.
It has other paid subscription plans… the Premier that stores footage for 30 days for $100 per year and an Elite plan that can store your footage for 60 days for $150 per year.
