The city of Los Angeles is known for its diverse cultures and timeless nightlife. However, it is also infamous for dreaded traffic, especially during rush hours. That's why the City of LA and LADOT worked with CSULA to understand this major problem. As part of a stepping stone Los Angeles City has taken in preparation for the 2028 Olympics, where we assume traffic will get even worse. In addition to preparing for the Olympics, this project is one of many that will help the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) achieve Vision Zero, which aims to end all traffic injuries and deaths by 2025. Thus, the objectives of this project are to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms and advanced machine learning models that can monitor, manage or predict the traffic flow of time series data, analyze and visualize the resulting prediction, and design a data preprocessing pipeline that city engineers can use.

Current developed applications include:
1) Bike routing and navigation using real-time data from the Metro Bike Share with an emphasis on route safety.
2) Data visualization of historical data on metro bicycle share.
3) Data visualization of bicycle and pedestrian crashes in relation to designated bicycle routes in Los Angeles.
