August expands support for the Google Assistant
We added support for Google Assistant for speakers like Google Home, phones and more almost a year ago, allowing August Smart Lock users to control their lock with their voice and the Google Assistant. Now we're expanding the integration with support for DoorSense, our innovative intelligent door sensor, simplifying the commands used to control your lock and adding support for a wider range of devices.

Support for August DoorSense and broader device support

The latest August Smart Lock and August Smart Lock Pro are the only locks that can tell you whether your door is open or closed. We can do this with DoorSense, our intelligent, integrated sensor. DoorSense has also been added to the Google Assistant. If you have DoorSense installed on your door, you can say, "Hey Google, is my door closed?" to confirm whether the door is open or closed for safe control of the front door.

Now you can also interact with your August Smart Lock and August Smart Lock Pro using your voice via the Google Assistant on compatible Android smartphones, the Google Assistant app on iOS, speakers like Google Home, wearables, TVs, and other devices that support the Google Support Assistant* .

Set up the Google Assistant
With the Google Assistant, users can lock their door or check if their door is locked. Now you no longer need to include 'Ask August' in your requests. Simply say, "Hey Google, lock my front door" or "Okay Google, is my front door locked?" Follow these instructions to set up the Google Assistant:

Launch and sign in to the Google Assistant app:
Tap the blue tray icon in the top right corner
Select Settings, Home Controls
Tap the plus sign icon in the bottom right corner to add devices
Select August Home
Sign in with your August account details to see your August lock(s) in the Devices section of the Google Assistant
If you were already using Google Assistant to control your August Smart Lock by saying "Ok Google, ask August to lock the front door", you will need to re-pair your lock (following the steps above) to interact directly with Google Assistant to speak . *Your August lock must be connected to Wi-Fi via the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge or an August Doorbell Camera.
