Coinbase has some fairly unusual security and infrastructure requirements. One of these requirements is that every server in our infrastructure is both ephemeral (30 days) and immutable. The deployment process for most applications is fairly straightforward: 12-factor apps are deployed blue/green behind a load balancer. Blockchain nodes, however, pose a tricky problem: how do you deploy a server with 1TB of disk blue/green? In this session, we'll discuss how we solved this problem in a blockchain-agnostic way using a new project called Snapchain.
