As I continue to prepare for this summer, I have found that learning to build and navigate the backcountry using topographical maps will be an essential skill to learn.

Today my good friend Eddie and I are using this new skill to climb Mount Benson from Westwood Lake in Nanaimo, BC. Normally finding your way to the top is a relatively easy task, but from Westwood Lake it's a slightly different story. I decided to hone my navigation skills in a relatively easy environment, where getting lost is not a major concern.
