In this lecture, George Eleftheriou takes the audience on a journey to happiness. He begins by presenting three basic facts of happiness. Happy people live longer, are more successful and are good for their families and society. The question then is how we can achieve this much-desired emotion. The answer lies in the combination of positive psychology and technology. New technological developments have made recognizing emotions easier than ever before, as wearable technology can integrate knowledge from the neurobiology of emotions and track people's emotions. In such a case, an emotion tracker can detect the emotions a person experiences during the day and, in the case of negative emotions, suggest ways to make him or her feel happy again. The key point in this emerging technology is that “emotion recognition technology can help us better connect with our inner selves” and also help us “develop emotional awareness and positive emotional habits” and achieve happiness.

George Eleftheriou is co-founder and CEO of Sentio Solutions. Based in Palo Alto, California, the company is focused on developing Feel, the first wristband that recognizes and tracks human emotions throughout the day, to help users develop positive emotional habits and improve well-being.
In the past, George was a management consultant at McKinsey & Cisco in New York and London, with expertise in Big Data and Analytics. He has significant experience working with C-level executives and Fortune 100 clients across industries such as consumer packaged goods, retail and financial services. Previously, he was a project manager at a technology consultancy in Greece, where he managed assignments and relationships with the top telecommunications players in six countries in Southeast Europe. George has a background in Engineering and Business, having earned three master's degrees, including an MSc in Management Science & Engineering from Columbia University.
