Renewable energy is one of the most urgent challenges the world must tackle this century. The scientific community is unanimous that if we do not quickly switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy, there is a danger that global warming will exceed a tipping point at which point uncontrollable feedback loops will lead to dramatically higher temperatures.

With this in mind, the Renewable Energy and Smart Grid (ICT) Conference 2018, held under the theme: “Energy Resilience and Independence”, will bring together researchers, thought leaders, utility and energy professionals and suppliers and provide them with a unique platform to deeply address renewable energy and resilience from both a global and regional perspective.

This conference is strategically aligned with our CARILEC Renewable Energy Community (CAREC) platform's current initiative to foster greater energy knowledge, exchange and cooperation in the region.

The conference will include interactive style workshops, networking opportunities, peer-to-peer learning and practical demonstrations of best practices in renewable energy, resilience planning, CARILEC Renewable Energy Community and disaster management. It will also serve as a space for women professionals to connect with each other under the CARILEC & Women in Energy (WIRE) Strategic Partnership.
