How to test a 3 wire hall effect crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor using a multimeter. The two sensors are crucial components of the engine management system. The input they provide allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to determine engine speed and position, including which cylinder is on which stroke. Through the combination of both sensor signals, the engine control unit knows when the first cylinder is at top dead center (TDC). This information is used by engine management systems to control fuel injection, ignition system timing and other engine parameters. Thanks for looking. Comment, like and subscribe!.
