Blockchain as a force for good in the fight against climate change, in Davos 2022

Hosted in partnership with the Hyperledger Foundation, the Filecoin Foundation and CNBC.

Blockchain as a force for good in the fight against climate change
Combating the climate crisis requires a large-scale, coordinated effort from parties around the world. And in the age of greenwashing and disinformation, transparency and verification are among the most important weapons. While the energy-intensive mining practices of some cryptocurrencies may make it seem counterintuitive, blockchain is playing an increasingly important role in reducing carbon footprints and ensuring climate pledges are met and delivered. This panel will address pathways to sustainability for blockchain technologies and the increasing adoption of tokens, credentials, smart contracts and more in the climate fight.

Speakers:
Alex Altman – COO, Seal Storage
Douglas Johnson-Poensgen – CEO, Circulor
Dr. Andreas Kind – Head of cybersecurity technology, Siemens
Moderator:
Daniela Barbosa – Executive Director, Hyperledger Foundation
