SURFACE DEVELOPMENT

2. A regular hexagonal pyramid with a base side of 30 mm and a height of 60 mm rests vertically on the base at HP, so that two sides of the base are perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 40o to HP. The cutting plane bisects the axis of the pyramid. Draw a plan view in section and obtain the development of the side surface of the truncated pyramid.

3. A vertical chimney with a diameter of 70 cm connects to a roof that is inclined at an angle of 35o to the horizontal. The shortest part over the roof is 32 cm. Obtain the shape of the sheet metal with which the chimney can be constructed.

4. Draw the development of the side surface of a hexagonal prism with a base edge of 24 mm and a height of 68 mm. An insect moves across its surface along a short route from a corner on the base to the diametrically opposite corner of the upper surface. Graphically trace the insect's path in the front view.

5. Draw the development of a cylinder as a rectangle with dimensions 110 mm x 55 mm. A semicircle with a radius of 55 mm is inscribed in the rectangle. Draw the projections of the cylinder with the semicircle on it.

6. A hexagonal prism, edge of base 20 mm and axis 50 mm long, rests with its base on HP so that one of its rectangular faces is parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP, at an angle of 45 degrees to HP and passing through the right corner of the upper face of the prism. Draw the plan view in section and develop the side surface of the truncated prism.

7. A pentagonal prism, side of base 25 mm and height 50 mm, rests with its base on HP such that one edge of the base is parallel to VP and closer to the observer. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP, at an angle of 45o to HP and passing through the center of the axis. Draw the development of the side surface of the truncated prism.

8. A cone of base diameter 60 mm and height 70 mm rests with its base on HP. A sectional plane perpendicular to VP and at an angle of 30o to HP intersects the axis of the cone. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the truncated cone.

9. A square pyramid with a base 35 mm and an axis 70 mm long rests on the base at HP so that two adjacent sides of the base are equally inclined with respect to VP. It is cut by a sectional plane perpendicular to VP and at an angle of 30° to HP, passing through the center of the axis.

10. A cone, base 50 mm diameter and axis 60 mm long, rests with its base on HP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to VP, parallel to one of the end generators and through a point on the axis at a distance of 22 mm from the apex. Draw the top view in section and develop the side surface of the remaining part of the cone.

SECTION OF SOLID SUBSTANCES

1. A square prism, with base side 30 mm and axis 60 mm long, rests with its base on HP and one of its rectangular faces inclined at an angle of 30° to VP. A section plane perpendicular to VP and at an angle of 60° to HP intersects the axis of the prism at a point 20 mm from the upper end. Draw a plan view of a cross-section and the true shape of the cross-section.

2. A square pyramid with a base 30 mm and an axis 60 mm long is positioned at HP with the base edges sloping evenly towards VP. It is cut by a sectional plane perpendicular to VP and at an angle of 30° to HP, which bisects the axis. Draw the top view of the section and the true shape of the section, if the top part is removed.

3. A hexagonal pyramid, with a side of the base 25 mm and an axis 55 mm long, rests with its base on HP, so that one of the edges of its base is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to HP, at an angle of 45° to VP and passing through the pyramid at a distance of 10 mm from the axis. Draw the front view of the section and the true shape of the section.
