Look inside a robotic surgical instrument from Intuitive Surgical.

The robotic instruments shown in this video are for the intuitive DaVinci S and Si systems. The newest systems are the Xi and the SP. The Xi has an identical EndoWrist mechanism, but a different pulley configuration. The SP is all different in that it has many more degrees of freedom per instrument, but is also cable driven just like the rest.

I would really like to get my hands on an SP instrument as they are much more complex and interesting. They recently launched the SP product so there are none available on eBay.
