Learn all about food webs and food chains. Each of these shows how energy is transferred in an ecosystem.
All living things need energy. There are two popular models that illustrate the flow of energy in an ecosystem, a food web and a food chain.
Within these models you have trophic levels. As you go up in trophic levels, about 90 percent of the energy is lost as heat.
In this video I cover the level 1 producers, level 2 primary consumers, level 3 secondary consumers, level 4 tertiary consumers, and level 5 top predators.
In a food web, the arrows always point in the direction of energy flow.
