As artificial intelligence, gene therapies, and clinical-grade digital health tools enter healthcare, new boundaries are being drawn around what is possible in medicine. Now that we are about a decade into the electronic health record experiment, how should this technology evolve to take full advantage of these exciting developments? This session will focus on building next-generation capabilities into EHRs to keep pace with advances in technology and science. It will also explore new opportunities for EHRs to provide patient care that is personalized, predictive, preventive, and sensitive to the social and behavioral influences on a person's health. From the 2018 EHR National Symposium at Stanford.
