The University of Manchester's Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment (DCMSR) unveiled an innovative set of guidelines on 17 July 2024. These guidelines are intended to prepare university communications and marketing teams for the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. guidelines are a proactive step in ensuring an inclusive and message-effective AI application.
Commenting on this development, Interim Director Matthew Moth said: “AI has the potential to reshape our current operations, but only if we are confident enough to exploit these tools. Our guidance aims to equip our colleagues to do just that ."
The DCMSR AI Guidelines provide insight into key principles and privacy, ethics and training requirements and also cover AI-generated images, video and audio. The brainchild of the dedicated DCMSR AI working group, these guidelines extensively reviewed previously developed standards in higher education and other sectors, solicited expert opinion and encouraged feedback from colleagues across the university.
These guidelines are highly recommended by the university-wide communications and marketing leadership team for all communications and marketing content creators. For further information please see the [DCMSR AI Guidelines](https://www.staffnet.manchester.ac.uk/news/display/?id=31458).
