If you can afford to outsource a major cleanup, do it. Then you can focus on the fun stuff, like creating new garden beds, picking plants and figuring out where you want them. In this case, this client has a lot of invasive and other plants that need to be pulled or dug out by hand. This is very hard physical work. Without knowing how much a project will cost, you can’t make an informed decision about how to approach it.

This project is very different from a typical fall cleanup, which can also be a lot of work, depending on how many leaves are in your yard. A quick word about fall cleanups in general: leave all the leaves you can, along with your perennials, standing. They provide shelter and food for wildlife over the winter, and toward the end of the season, when many people are tired and ready for a break from gardening, it provides a nice excuse to be a little lazy.
