Hezbollah says it has launched “dozens” of rockets from Lebanon as fears grow that a full-scale war with Israel could soon break out following the assassination of Hamas's political leader in Tehran.

The Iran-backed group said it was acting in response to Israel's attacks on Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane in Lebanon, which it said injured civilians there.

This comes amid reports that 50 rockets have been fired towards the Upper Galilee from southern Lebanon alone, according to Israeli media.

Video footage showed Israel's Iron Dome defense system activated and the Israeli military later confirmed that "most" of the approximately 30 "projectiles" fired on Saturday evening had been intercepted. No one was injured, the IDF said.

The crisis in the Middle East has intensified following the assassination of Hamas' top leader Ismail Haniyeh, a day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr.

The escalating tensions have prompted Britain, the US and Australia to tell their citizens to evacuate Lebanon. Travelers are also advised to avoid Israel.
