Every week, e-grocer FreshDirect delivers 100,000 grocery orders directly to customers. It all happens from the Bronx warehouse, the size of eleven football fields. Using an advanced AI system, temperature checks, a 9-mile conveyor belt and a fleet of delivery trucks, the company can eliminate three steps in the normal supermarket supply chain. Business Insider visited the warehouse to see how the company is moving 3 million groceries per week despite unprecedented pandemic demand.
