India is facing climate change in several ways. Climate change has become a global concern in recent decades. Moreover, these climate changes affect life on Earth in several ways, such as health impacts, unavailability of resources and loss of #biodiversity.

Environmental impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions cause global warming, which increases temperatures, leads to sea level rise and ultimately leads to biodiversity loss.

EIA is a tool to map the environmental and socio-economic consequences of a project before decision-making takes place. It aims to predict environmental impacts earlier in planning and design, find ways to reduce harmful impacts, shape the projects to fit the nearby environment and present options to decision makers.
Assessment of the environmental impacts of each project provides detailed knowledge about the impacts in the initial, intermediate and final phases of the project. In the generic structure of an EIA as per the EIA Notification, 2006, a separate chapter or section is created as Chapter IV and Chapter VII.
The most common environmental impacts are as follows:
• Air pollution coming from Stack, DG Set, mining activities, vehicle emissions etc. (Graphic ideas: air pollution)
• Water pollution from leachate runoff, overuse of pesticides, wastewater discharge, etc. (Graphic Ideas: Water Pollution)
• Soil pollution from excessive use of pesticides, waste from rural communities, irrigation waste water, etc. (Graphic Ideas: Soil Pollution)
• Noise pollution from air traffic or road traffic noise, construction sites, machines, etc. (Graphic ideas: noise pollution)
•Loss of biodiversity (graphic ideas: loss of flora and fauna)
• Social economic
• And land environment

So let's understand. Why is it necessary to conduct an environmental impact assessment?
Human well-being is directly dependent on biodiversity and the ecosystem.
So it is very important to measure, plan and minimize the impact by assessing each project on the environment towards sustainable development.
So what is the environmental impact assessment process, let's understand. To assess the environmental impact of any project or activity, the following steps are as per EIA Notification, 2006:
• Screening
• Scoping and impact analysis
• Assessment of the EIA report
• Public participation
• Decision making (assessment)

Now we will understand the stages involved in assessing environmental impact
Impacts can be classified as direct, indirect and cumulative impacts. The phases involved are as follows:
• Impact identification includes checklists and matrices, baseline monitoring, etc.
• Impact prediction includes impact duration, magnitude of impact, modeling, etc.
• Impact assessment and mitigation measures using environmental standards, matrices, management plans, etc.
