When photographing, remember to EXPOSE THE MAIN OBJECT IN THE FRAME. This ensures that our eyes are drawn to the right place in the image. Second, think about what colors are in your frame. I'm talking about two different terms: Single Hue Dominance and Small Variance Hues.
Here are my favorite VSCO edits that I use on almost every photo (I rounded the numbers so they can be applied to more images):
PRESET: Agfa Vista 400 (AV4)
Exposure: -4
Contrast: 1
Highlights: 12
Temperature: .5
Tint: -.7
Saturation: 1.5
Sharpen: .3
Grain: 3
Again, I recommend using these as a starting point and adjusting any individual settings as necessary.
