This animation shows how movements are absorbed in an Inline Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint. Inline pressure balanced expansion joints are designed to absorb movements of a piping system. They are suitable for axial movements where anchoring of the piping system is difficult or impractical due to structural or economic considerations. Pressure-balanced expansion joints do not transfer internal pressure to the mounting points, adjacent equipment or structures. Fixed points are usually not necessary, only guides can ensure that thermal expansion is converted into controlled movement.
