The taxi industry has turned the ride-hailing industry upside down. Companies like Uber and Lyft rake in billions of dollars in revenue by disrupting local markets, but drivers on the road have a different strategy to maximize profits: diversification.

Taxi drivers are technically independent entrepreneurs, so they are not tied to one company. The more apps they use, the more money is on the table.

Harry Campbell, a taxi driver known as "The Rideshare Guy," runs a blog to help drivers get the most out of their business. And he recommends drivers sign up for at least two different apps.

"Once you get the hang of it, you should be driving for Uber and Lyft at a minimum. After all, you're a business owner as a taxi driver, so it's important to diversify your income," Campbell said.

But juggling multiple platforms for ride-hailing can be complicated. It’s not always the most efficient or safe way to operate when you’re switching between phones or apps to manage new passenger requests while navigating the roads.
