First of all, we need stress and we are equipped to deal with it in measured ways!

It is good to have a reasonable amount of stress so that we can achieve things, overcome fears, learn and grow, and adapt to a new standard and identity for ourselves.

Conscious stress is very good, as are sauna, sports, ice baths, difficult conversations, fasting, etc.

Chronic stress, on the other hand, can be harmful to the body in the long term.

Our nervous system needs regular maintenance

Think about your vehicle for example. You don't want to be pedaling hard every day, slamming on the brakes at every stop sign, drifting through corners, etc.

Parts have a shorter lifespan and start to break down sooner rather than later, simply due to overload.

Our bodies need TLC and maintenance, just like our cars. But because the body is such an incredible healing machine, we often neglect it. Until a health crisis occurs.

Stress activates our fight or flight response and activates all body systems by producing more cortisol and adrenaline, giving us more focus and energy to survive the situation.

So here are some tips. I already gave you one, but I'm going to give you 3 because I'm such a nice guy!

1. USE STRESS!
We’ve created a negative association with stress, but what if we turned that around and saw stress as the superpower that it is? Incorporate it into your workouts, use it to get work done faster, see it as an opportunity to adapt and get better.

2. BREATHE INTO THE ABDOMEN
Now take a deep breath… did you shrug your shoulders when you inhaled? Most people go through life with shallow, upper chest heaves, which is part of the body's stress response. Want to control and manage stress? Inhale by filling your belly with air by consciously expanding your abdominal muscles as you inhale and contracting them toward the spine as you exhale. This uses the parasympathetic nervous system to encourage the body to relax. If you're feeling stressed, TAKE 5 DEEP ABDOMINAL BREATHS!

3. TAKE BREAKS
Allow yourself to be bored. Limit social media, news, podcasts, etc. Take a break from consuming here and there and just BE.
