What should you do if you purchase a Honeywell WiFi thermostat without C-wire?
With any smart thermostat without a C wire, you still have to give it 24 V to power the smart thermostat. In my Honeywell rth9585 setup, I stole the green /"G/" wire from the G terminal and used it as the C wire on the C terminal to supply 24 VAC to this smart thermostat. However, this means that I cannot have the function where I just run the fan without AC or heat, like the ventilation function in your car. No problem, we only use our central air conditioning in AC mode or Heat mode. So the fan turns on automatically when your Honeywell Smart Thermostat tells the air conditioning or heating to turn on.
