And the first thing you need to do to get Pinterest traffic is
Make sure users can save something from your website
When you look at your Pinterest analytics, you want to see a lot of other Pins.
You see, I mainly have Other Pins in my top 10 pins, and my account gets 10 million viewers every month on Pinterest.
What does this actually mean to Others? It means YOUR account did not create these pins, but they are still pins associated with your website. So these are other people saving images from YOUR site.
You probably don't realize HOW important those OTHER pins are because you may have never seen them in your stats. Maybe your account is new or you've never had popular Other Pins.

But I'm fortunate enough to have seen the analytics not only on my own Pinterest accounts, but now also on dozens or perhaps hundreds of Pinterest accounts of my 1:1 clients.

And you know what struck me? All the accounts that I've seen that are really doing GREAT on Pinterest always have a bunch of pins marked as Other! And usually, very few pins marked as their own appear at the top of their Pinterest stats.

Here's how these Others Pins appear in your Pinterest analytics.
Let's say someone found your Pin on Pinterest and clicked on it to visit your website.
On the site, they loved your page so much that they decided to save it to a board on THEIR Pinterest account. They can use a button like this for social sharing on your site and save an image as a pin associated with your page. But that only happens IF there is an image on your page available to save.

When you open a Pin marked as Other, Pinterest won't immediately show you which specific board that Pin is saved to, but you can track it if you open detailed analytics for that Pin. Then click here and you will see all the boards on which other users have saved this Pin.
So three things can go wrong with other Pins, and they can limit the amount of traffic you get from Pinterest.
I've noticed that in many cases people create Pinterest-optimized vertical pin images to save to Pinterest linked to their website.
