How to come up with YouTube video ideas

No one is looking for highlights and VODs from someone with no viewers or followers. That's why I don't tell new streamers to start a YouTube channel for their highlights. You don't have an audience yet, which means you have to find an audience by finding out what they're looking for and catering to that.

This is easiest with Educational content, which is what I do with this channel. I use tools and common sense to think about what people are looking for who want to learn to stream or improve their stream. I then source and release content that meets those needs.

What is the new YouTube update?

Channel page updates are currently rolling out slowly and should roll out to everyone by the end of the year. This means that videos, shorts and live streams now have their own tabs on the channel, once you've uploaded them all…

No more hiding live streams, which of course means no more losing watch hours, but more importantly you can upload short films without making your channel page look terrible and making it harder to find your most important videos.

They're also quickly experimenting with a new recommendation tool on channel pages so that the subscribers who visit your channel will be recommended videos or content on your channel based on what they like most, so if someone has subscribed to you for short films, they will see short clips instead of videos when they appear on your channel.

When I start out, I try to look for topics with low search competition and low to medium search volume. This makes it easier to appear at the top of search results when someone looks up the question.

Create educational content on the topic you want to grow in. If you are a Stardew Valley streamer, you can make videos on “How to Install Mods in Stardew Valley” or “Best Greenhouse Layout for Stardew Valley” or if you are a speedrunner for something like Super Mario Odyssey or Legend of Zelda, “How To Speedrun Super Mario Odyssey – Cap Kingdom Tutorial"

The style of this video is similar in parts to Alpha Gaming and VidIQ. A major influence on this series comes from content creators such as Gaming Careers and Nutty.
