What does “quality of writing” mean and why is it important in manuscripts?

In the world of clinical and scientific research, rejection by journals is the rule rather than the exception. Almost all researchers writing manuscripts will receive rejection letters from journals, especially in the early stages of their careers, and rejection should therefore be seen as a learning experience and not something to be down about.

This reality begs the question all researchers must ask themselves: “Why are my manuscripts being rejected?” And from a broader perspective: “What is it about so many manuscripts that are rejected so often?”

One likely answer to this question is that a large number of manuscripts suffer from a deficiency in the 'quality of writing'. This can lead not only to rejections, but also to continued requests for review and resubmission (if the study itself is considered significant and valid), as well as postponements, which cost researchers additional time, money and effort. While there is endless excellent research being done at any given time, the manuscripts that are published will combine novelty, relevance, impact and other scholarly parameters of a good manuscript with another parameter whose importance is often overlooked: 'quality of writing '. This is the topic of my presentation today.
