After Tesla purchased its car factory at a fraction of its original cost of $1 billion for just $42 million, it embarked on a mission to build the most advanced car factory in the world. They added high-end equipment, including many AI-powered robots. The factory is located in Fremont, California.

Elon Musk defines Tesla's gigafactory as the machine that builds other devices, and this is because of the way AI powers it.

Elon Musk's Tesla has other gigafactories in the works, such as GigaTexas, GigaBerlin and GigaShanghai. And since the GigaNevada, they've gotten better at setting up these factories more efficiently. For example, Tesla's AI factory in Nevada took about two years to complete the first phase, but Tesla's factory in Shanghai took only ten months. Even GigaBerlin would be built in just 11 months.

With Tesla's vertical integration for battery production with Panasonic, Tesla's factories will have approximately 1,000 gigawatt hours. And this would do more to take Tesla's car production to even greater heights. Moreover, Musk plans to make 20 million deliveries by 2030, which may seem far-fetched but is possible thanks to continuously increasing efficiency.

Tesla's factory has about 200 robots of varying size and complexity. Moving on, one thing that put Tesla's AI factory ahead of the competition was the use of smart carts across its popular conveyor belts. These carry individual robots that transport individual cars and drive them around the factory when necessary. And thanks to the magnetic strips on the factory floor, these smart carts move automatically.

In the general assembly, robots and humans work together on the wiring, seat installation, windows, windshield and software programming.
