RULES FOR REBELS ON STEEMIT
https://steemit.com/@rulesforrebels
First of all, thank you so much for pushing me to find out for everyone who did. Steemit is a blockchain-based social network. It is very similar in look, feel and interface to Reddit.
Steemit also functions as a cryptocurrency and you earn cryptocurrencies, or real money, by posting, commenting and voting.
The best and easiest comparison I can make is that it's like Reddit and Reddit Karma, but unlike fake internet money, it's real cryptocurrency.
It's a bit confusing at first, there's STEEM Power, Steem Dollars and Steem. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this, but STEEM Power makes your account more valuable, it makes you earn more and gives you more influence because your upvotes are worth more. STEEM is the actual cryptocurrency that you can convert into Bitcoins and then dollars, and Steem Dollars are what you get paid. 50% Steem Dollars and 50% Steem Power you get when people like your content. If you like other people's content, they get paid in STEEM dollars and the amount is based on your influence.
If someone with a lot of VOTE power or influence gives you a vote, you might get 1, 2, or even more. If someone with not much Steem Power gives you a vote, it can only be a penny, so essentially people who are in for the long haul will have more influence and control over the type of content rewarded and the direction of the site.
I've been on the site for less than 24 hours, I'm still learning how to format posts, getting to know the culture of the site, but so far I'm a big fan. It looks like you can really make money here and IMHO this is the future of the internet.
I definitely recommend that you sign up now to become a member.
