The value of patent portfolios is often shrouded in mystery due to the lack of transparency associated with IP transactions. In the US market, some of the recent multi-million dollar patent deals, Supreme Court rulings, intensive patent litigation and ongoing patent reform legislation have had a tremendous impact on the financial value of IP assets. Yet the financial value of IP assets is largely misunderstood due to the fact that these assets are not regularly reported and measured in the financial statements of corporate IP holders, creating a valuation gap that is difficult for market observers to bridge.

This webinar will provide guidance for understanding the value of a company's IP portfolio as a strategic asset, from the viewpoint of a variety of stakeholders. Using real-life examples from her valuation practice, the speaker will present a practical approach to understanding the methodologies applied and the factors taken into account in the valuation and assessment of patents as they relate to the holder of corporate intellectual property.
