There are 4 main types of timers: _Simplified timers, digital timers, mechanical timers, and smart timers._ _Simplified timers_ are designed to be incredibly easy to use, but this user-friendly setup does have a downside: the simplified nature of these timers means they have limited functionality. _Digital timers_ are packed with features and are typically the best value for the average gardener; the downside is that these timers do not have WiFi or Bluetooth capabilities and there is a bit of a learning curve to programming them. _Mechanical timers_ are the most affordable of the group, but this also means they have the most limited functionality: only 1 timer setting and it must be manually reset after each cycle. _Smart timers_ are the most capable and most expensive of the group, but for those who see the value in remote and internet-enabled smart programming, they are worth the price.
