VR (virtual reality) headsets are at the top of the wish list for children and young children around the world. With several VR headsets having age restrictions, is this new technology really safe for young children?

Well, there is no consensus among VR headset makers on the right age to use a VR gizmo. Some are absolutely against children using VR, while others consider it safe under parental supervision.

Despite the lack of studies in this area, some studies have shown that virtual reality can have an impact on the developing brains of young children. Long-term exposure to a VR environment can negatively affect brain functioning in young children.

Young children may not have the reflexes to remove VR headsets if they are not properly fitted. Worse still, children can become so engrossed in the virtual environment that they ignore the discomfort.
