When we talk about the supply chain, we are talking about several things: how materials arrive at the company. How companies receive, process and store. How delivery orders are processed. How inventory is managed. How materials are stored. What rate they are used in the production process. And then, how final products are packaged, shipped and delivered to customers.

The question is: where are the purchasing activities within the SCM umbrella? I would say, completely over. But before we dive deeper into purchasing, let's better define the differences between supply chain and purchasing.

In this lesson we discuss the language of supply chain management and, within it, purchasing work. Let's understand the relevance and differences.
