About the Speaker
Ross Leckow is Senior Advisor Fintech – Strategy and Legal at the Innovation Hub of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland. Mr Leckow advises on the Hub's strategy and work programme, leads all work relating to the Hub's institutional design and expansion into new jurisdictions, and is responsible for all legal matters relating to the Hub. Before joining the BIS in 2019, Mr. Leckow served as Deputy General Counsel at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC.
He led the work of the IMF Legal Department on crisis lending in Member States, designing the legal and policy framework for the IMF's activities, and providing legal policy advice to Member States on issues of reform the financial sector.
Beginning in 2015, Mr. Leckow co-led the development of the IMF's comprehensive Fintech program, which included both policy development and country operations. Before joining the IMF, Mr. Leckow practiced law in the private and public sectors in Canada. He regularly lectures on issues in international monetary and financial law, including Fintech, and has published extensively.
