Continued technological advancements in both virtual reality and augmented reality have continued to produce products that inform, entertain and engage audiences of all ages. But what is the future of VR and AR in the field of marketing and sales?

Marketers across industries are already using 360 video as a way to present product information, allowing potential customers to view a product or space as they see fit. For example, home buyers can view the interior and exterior of a home in a different geographic location and get a much better feeling about the property than if they only viewed static images.

When marketers add full VR systems, potential buyers can generally travel through a room or around a product without having to be physically present. It also allows marketers to showcase prototypes for customization, whether it is a small manufactured item or an entire pre-construction building.

While not all technology is currently available in a format that is affordable and easy to use, don't let that stop you from being strategic.

Marketers need to plan now for how they can use virtual or augmented reality so that once the technology becomes cost-effective and easy to use, they are ready to adopt it without delay.
