In the analytical technique of mass spectrometry, atoms or molecules are ionized using a high-energy electron beam and then separated based on their mass-to-charge ratio (m/z). The results are presented as a mass spectrum, showing the relative abundances of the ions on the y-axis and their m/z ratios on the x-axis. This data can be used to calculate the exact mass of the atoms or molecules in the sample. Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization on a mission to provide a free, world-class education to everyone, everywhere. We offer quizzes, questions, how-to videos and articles on a range of academic subjects including math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, economics, finance, grammar, early learning and more. We provide teachers with tools and data so they can help their students develop the skills, habits and mindsets for success in school and beyond. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages and 15 million people around the world learn at Khan Academy every month. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we want your help!
