If you're passionate or even curious about how to make technology more inclusive, come to MozFest where I'll be hosting a panel and accompanying 3D experience in Mozilla Hubs to explore VR accessibility: https://schedule.mozillafestival .org/session /MJWAMG-1
Panel speakers include professionals from across the research, design, and advocacy spectrum: Mar Gonzalez Franco, principal investigator at Microsoft, Dylan Fox, Accessibility Consultant at XR Access, and Stephen Lee, a lecturer and experience designer at Portland State University – all of whom his fascinating work at the forefront of technology, distance education, design and accessibility.
The Hubs Experience (https://schedule.mozillafestival.org/session/MJWAMG-1) highlights some of these accessibility considerations and best practices: it is a 3D virtual world made up of separate rooms, each dealing with a specific arena of accessible experience design.
Add your own audio story to a video track, provide live 3D transcription of another participant's speech, contribute examples of locomotion methods in VR, or educate yourself on best practices and research in VR.
Inclusive 3D social experiences have come a long way, but they still have a long way to go – and getting there will require the work and support of passionate individuals like you.
Hope to see you at MozFest – Watch the Designing Accessible VR Experiences session on March 8 at 9am Pacific.
