LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Online shopping is nothing new. But that is the case for one local supermarket. Kroger in Liberty Township is now offering the service to its customers. It is currently the only location offering the service. /"I don't know if I would use it all the time. But it seems like a good option if I can't make it to the store," said shopper Lucy Bromer. The supermarket chain has been testing the service since November and opened to all customers on Thursday. You can place your order online at any time of the day and then schedule a pick-up time the next day. / “They choose a time when they want to come pick up the order,” Patty Leesemann said. / “They come at that time and then they pay for it and the order selector takes the product out, puts it in their car and off they go,” the public affairs manager said. Leesemann says the service is aimed at everyday customers, such as busy families and people who can no longer do their own shopping. Customer Alexandria Omikami used the service on Thursday. She says her disability makes it difficult for her to shop. /“I got to the point where I could no longer physically go through the grocery store,” Omikami said. /"Even when I used a car, reaching and getting up and down from the car was just too difficult for me./" Kroger stores are currently testing the service. More locations are expected to open soon. More information can be found at www.kroger.com/onlineshopping.com
