Intel® Silicon Photonics is a key technology for moving data between servers and switches in large data centers. This presentation will discuss the progress Intel has made in Silicon Photonics over the past four years since first launching 100Gb/s transceivers and how manufacturing optics at scale has resulted in the deployment of more than 5 million transceivers for hyperscale data centers to date. To support the exponential growth of data traffic, 200Gb/s and 400Gb/s optical transceivers are now being ramped up, and some cloud service providers are beginning to evaluate 800Gb/s. We will discuss industry trends in optical networking in data centers and review the key building blocks of pluggable optical transceivers. The presentation will also look at the benefits of co-packaged optics, which are expected to be deployed in the next 2-3 years. A brief look at future applications of high-volume Silicon Photonics outside the data center will conclude the presentation.

Presented by Robert Blum, Sr. Director, Marketing and New Business for Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division and Scott Schube, Senior Director of Strategic Marketing for Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division. Recorded at Networking Field Day 25 on May 12, 2021. For more information, visit http://Intel.com or http://TechFieldDay.com/event/nfd25/
