STEP 4a: Remove cards from your mobile device with OsmAnd

One small problem I encountered after following these steps for deleting and uploading an updated map (same file name but larger size). Everything seemed to work for a while, but then the overlay map disappeared. Turns out I had this map selected as the current overlay map. I assume the change in card dimensions caused an issue in the app.

A simple solution was to kill the app and restart it. This didn't occur to me when I encountered the problem in the mountains.

To avoid this in the future, make sure you disable the map layer that contains the file you are updating, or select a different map file before updating the map.

I find that I can use Zoom level 17 in the USGS National Map Viewer to create these offline hillshade maps. This results in a resolution of 1 meter/pixel in the .sqlitedb file which corresponds to the spatial resolution reported in the map viewer.

I'm not sure when landscape mode came into play, but I had noticed it a while ago. When you rotate your device, you will see a screen rotation icon at the bottom of the screen. When you click on that icon, it will change in the desired direction and stay there until you change it.

For screen recording, I first tried the built-in Android screen recorder, but it records the dimensions in portrait mode with the landscape screen in there, so you have to crop the video and you lose a lot of resolution, as happened in this video. Instead, I discovered that AZ Screen Recorder records in full resolution in landscape mode when you start recording in landscape mode.

You can delete map sources via the Settings menu:
– Download maps:
– Local:
– Online and cached tile maps:
– Three dot menu, or simply click on the name of the card
– Select Delete.

To update a map, first delete it and then upload a new copy to avoid having multiple files with the same name.
