Catherine Stinson, senior policy officer at the Mowat Centre, was the first speaker of this lecture series. She recently wrote commentaries in the Globe & Mail calling for deeper thinking about AI in healthcare, and completed a policy paper at the Mowat Center titled “Policy Solutions for Big Data and AI Innovation in Healthcare.” Catherine presented an overview of the article, followed by responses from a reactor panel, and moderated by Jennifer Gibson.

The panel consisted of:
Shiran Isaacksz (Senior Director, Connected Care, University Health Network)
Ben Fine (chief physician for quality and informatics in the diagnostic imaging department at Trillium Health Partners)
Jay Shaw (scientist, Women's College Hospital and AMS Phoenix Fellow in Ethics and Governance of AI for Health)

This lecture series is co-hosted by the University of Toronto Joint Center for Bioethics (JCB) and the Women's College Hospital Institute For Health System Solutions And Virtual Care (WIHV).
