In this video we cover the project planning and data discovery aspect of our data analytics project for sales insights. Once the atliQ hardware sales directory has decided to invest in a data analytics project, he will hold a meeting with the IT director and data analytics team to come up with a plan. They will use the AIMS grid to define the purpose and success criteria of this project.

Once the AIMS grid is defined, the next step is data discovery. In this step, the data analyst team approaches the IT team within an organization that owns a software system that tracks sales data. These records are stored in the MySQL database. Power BI can be connected to this database to retrieve the necessary information required for data analysis. I also discuss ETL, OLTP, OLAP and data warehouse concepts. Often we need a separate data warehouse or OLAP system to run our data analysis queries, but in our project we will use the mysql database directly.
