Lutron's Caseta Wireless lighting technology is one of the first home automation products to hit stores with Apple HomeKit support.

On June 2, ahead of Apple's upcoming 2015 WWDC event, several companies announced that their HomeKit-enabled home automation products were officially shipping or available for pre-order. We briefly look at this starter kit from Lutron, under the Caseta Wireless brand.

A good kit for those just starting out with basic home automation, it includes two dimmers, two physical /"Pico/" remotes and the smart bridge that offers HomeKit support (and Android too). You can choose to use Siri or not to control your lights via the included dimmers and just use Lutron's free Caseta app, but it's kind of nice to say, "Hey Siri, turn off the lights !".

We'll do a longer review soon, along with a real HomeKit demo of a few products that work together seamlessly.

At 230, it's a bit of a high price to get into home automation, but it's a reasonable bargain, especially if Lutron upgrades the system via software in the future.
