In July 2021, the European Commission published its so-called 'Fit for 55' package, including a proposed revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (known as REDII since its recent recast).
CERRE's latest report, based on an in-depth analysis of legislation and regulations, addresses three aspects that need to be addressed in the review to achieve higher renewable energy targets under REDII: renewable energy support schemes and procurement procedures; coordinated planning and integration of energy systems; and rules for tracking and valorizing sustainable energy, especially Guarantees of Origin (GOs).
After a presentation of the report and its recommendations by author Catherine Banet (CERRE Research Fellow and Associate Professor at the University of Oslo), Albéric Mongrenier (Head of Energy & Sustainability at CERRE) moderates a discussion between:
• Antonio Lopez-Nicolas, Deputy Head of Policy Unit Renewable Energy and Energy System Integration, DG ENERGY
• Solène Charpentier, Policy Advisor – Climate, Renewable Energy and Environment, EDF
• Etienne Goudal, Senior Project Manager Strategy, GRDF
