Retail store marketing strategy for the new world – 9 tips

– Imagine a world where you have to do business without human interaction. You need to be able to build relationships, have an exceptional customer experience, acquire customers, etc. How would you go about it? This forces you to think outside the box and prepare for the future.

– You need an elite ecommerce store that fits your brand. Your new storefront is in the digital world! People still want to shop and buy local, so make sure your store is a great shopping experience! Great photos, videos, easy to navigate, good content that matches your brand voice, online chat, zoom video chat, checkout process with option to pick up, shipped or delivered. Ability to schedule private viewing/fitting sessions. etc. If you check out in person, ensure contactless checkout and a safe shopping experience. Prevention is better than cure! Think of new packages, such as subscription packages, weekly/daily specials, products that people want/need in the new world (such as face masks), etc.

– MUST build a CRM database. Gather as much information as possible about your customers. You need to understand your customer like never before. When is their birthday, who is in their family, who are their friends, what do they like, what did they buy, how much did they spend all the time, where do they stand, what are their social media profiles, etc.

– Build relationships with your customers. Connect with them on social media. Follow them. Like their content, comment on their content. Send them DMs. Send them special offers, ideas about things they like, etc. The relationship now extends beyond the shopping experience into the digital world. This is an opportunity to build even stronger customer loyalty and LTV! Plus, tap into their social media friend networks!

– In addition to your customers, use social media to acquire more new customers and build your brand in your area. Follow friends of your customers (like-minded people), non-profits, sports/schools, neighborhoods, businesses, anyone in your impact radius. Being seen! Be loved! Just love people and they will love you in return. Don't be salesy. Be authentic. Go to the recent posts in your city and like all the posts from people who seem to fit your target group. Leave a comment! DM them a coupon to support a local store!

– Use email and texting. Take care of all your customers in an automated way. Build paths for different audiences, product categories, seasons, holidays, etc. It's all about increasing ROI! Send coupons and gifts to loyal customers to keep them coming back.

– Ask for reviews! Dominate reviews and ratings so you are the top-rated store in your category in your region.

– Invest in multi-channel advertising. Imagine this…

– Build your brand! Your brand is crucial. Don't trust Amazon. You need to build your own brand to be successful in the long run and increase your rating.
