Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you.

To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I teach the Project Management Institute (PMI) project management framework.

What actually is a project? It certainly has a sexy tone, right? Project…

I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French.

Project…
Well, a project is a temporary attempt to create a unique solution.
Yes, those are operations. No
Well, the difference between a project and operations is quite simple. A project ends. So it is temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/or whatever outcome you want, and you're done.
While in operations it is continuous and repetitive.
You may have also heard of the terms program and portfolio. Let me explain them quickly here. Program consists of several projects together.

Combined. And Portfolio is similar. Multiple programs together.
So it is project, program, portfolio.
Before I go further and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To carry out any project, you need two methodologies.
The first is a project life cycle and the second is a project management process.
Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss PMP certification goodbye. It's absolutely amazing how many content creators on YouTube confuse the two. They are not interchangeable. You can't afford to confuse a project lifecycle with a project management process.
Don't worry, I'm going to make it very simple for you.
Let's start with the project lifecycle.
The Project Lifecycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs.

It is highly customizable. Think of it this way; a human development is a project.
So your life cycle is;
1) get pregnant
2) Birth
3) Childhood
4) Teen hood. Teen hood. Is that a word? Teenager?
5) Maturity
6) And death
Easy stuff, right? So what if it was an IT project. I'm not an IT person, but I would like something like this;
High level design
Detailed design
Coding
To test
Installation
And turnover
This is the life cycle of a project.
The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows.

This video covers;
project management
project management Institute
pmp professional certification for project management
project life cycle
project management PMI
managing a project
basic principles of project management
basic principles of project management
project management for beginners
project management course
