In short, I absolutely love the core home security/alarm portion of SimpliSafe. I have even purchased additional alarm devices (window/door components, additional motion detection, smoke detectors, glass break alarms, etc.) that were not included in the original base/starter kit. I am quite impressed with their ease of use and functionality.

Which brings me to last weekend. I was going to (but was too lazy) take apart my washing machine drawer to clean my dryer lint system that runs outside the house. Then my water sensor went off and there was water under the washer. I cleaned it up and decided to use the lint vent, so I put together this amazing video.

I have also been meaning to do a follow up or update on my SimpliSafe system for a while now. Everything has been great except for 1 thing… that damn white wireless WIFI camera. For me and my setup, that particular camera is COMPLETELY unreliable. It works intermittently and then it doesn't… usually when I want to see something the most. Every time I think about calling SimpliSafe, it works… like taking your car to the mechanic and telling them about a weird noise it's making… except when you're standing in front of the mechanic.

So I decided to film my frustrations with the /"white/" camera compared to the older wired /"black/" cameras (they are actually wireless too, but for some reason SS calls them /"wired/"… too funny, in my opinion).

So this video documents how unreliable the white camera is and how absolutely reliable the black cameras are. I gave up on the white camera and have since purchased 3 black cameras and placed them in places where I wanted the white camera to work. In hindsight I should have gone with the starter pack with the older less feature rich black camera instead of the newer better feature white camera. It just didn't work for me and my situation and I think the video proves that.
