Patrick's career has focused on drug discovery for critical diseases. He has a passion for working in small businesses with aggressive timelines. Genentech, ICOS and Macrogenics each had fewer than 60 employees when he started. He has participated in the discovery and development of numerous therapies, including the hepatitis B vaccine, interferon alpha, interferon gamma, and the PI3 kinase inhibitor Idelalisib.
Format of the Startup Sessions:
The start-up sessions have a topic and an area expert who provides key insights and knowledge on the topic in a 20-30 minute seminar format. After the seminar, attendees will break into work sessions to engage with the topic as it relates to them. Next, in Winter and Spring Quarters, we will host an ELC student presentation on a legal issue relevant to startups. The student presents for 20-30 minutes and then works with the advisory board to answer questions on that topic.
• Each CoMotion Labs Startup Session begins at 12:00 PM, with a 20-30 minute seminar, followed by question and answer time on the topic until 1:00 PM.
• Each ELC student presentation begins at 1:00 PM, with a 20-30 minute lecture, followed by question and answer time on the topic until 2:00 PM. (ELC students attend winter and spring quarters only.)
• The entire start-up session is accessible to participants until 3 p.m.
All seminars are recorded on video and streamed live.
