Stäubli has installed additional STOBER axes that allow the robot manufacturer to configure its multi-axis robots with even more dynamic options for precise, fast tasks.
This meant that the six-axis Stäubli robots were expanded with a seventh, plus an optional eighth, STOBER axis. An SD6 single-axis controller from STOBER manages the motion control on the two additional axes.
EtherCAT or CANopen facilitates the connection to a higher level controller.
The video shows how efficiently a six-axis robot from Stäubli's TX2-60 series can be equipped with additional external axes from STOBER, as this short film demonstrates for a leading German bicycle manufacturer.
The bicycle frame is presented on a turntable where work is being done. Powered by a STOBER PH-EZ geared motor, the seventh axis moves the table into position so the robot can guide the tool to the frame. The motor moves the table as soon as there is contact between the tool and the frame, and the tool then follows the irregular rotational movement of the frame without losing contact.
